IITBHF & IITBAA Seattle Chapter
1st IITB Alumni Seattle Chapter Diwali Dinner
IITB Alumni Seattle Chapter organized its first Diwali dinner on Nov 6th, after being recently rejuvenated. A group of 14 IIT Bombay Alumni got together Sunday evening for dinner at Spice Route Indian restaurant in Redmond, WA. The participants ranged from Bachelors, Masters and PhD programs and covered a wide range of decades in terms of graduation dates 1986-2016. Alumni from Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, and several graduate students from the University of Washington participated for the dinner. Several hostels were represented (some more than others) and Chemical Engineering seemed to be the dominant branch in attendance.
Everyone had a great time swapping stories of their respective tenures in IITs with the younger alumni getting valuable life advice from their seniors and agreed that we need to meet more regularly to keep the tempo going.
A few events are being planned in the coming months, including an informal get together (this time at UW Campus) in Dec., a Boeing factory tour in January and potentially a community service event in February. In addition, we will be leveraging our contacts at Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, and University of Washington to organize professional talks on topics of interest to the community.
A Slack group has been established as a primary means of communication and if you are interested please email Manan Pathak (email@example.com). Note there is also a LinkedIn group and a relatively dormant Facebook group which we became aware of recently which we plan to re-start.
