Reply to petition on disparity of salaries in IIT- Bombay : HC to Centre
Bombay High Court has directed Centre's Ministry of Human Resources and Development to file an affidavit on a petition seeking parity of pay scales of technical and non-technical staff of Indian Institute of Technogy (IIT), Bombay.
A division bench of Justice Sharad Bobde and Justice Rajesh Ketkar on August 30, 2012 heard a petition filed by retired H V Patil and four others. There are 46 non-teaching staff at IIT, Mumbai who consist of office assistants, senior stenographers, senior telephone operators, assistant registrars, among others. The petition urged direction to authorities to give them salary on par with those of senior technical assistants and junior engineers saying they work is of equivalent.
